3 easy steps to fix a leaking pipe

So here's the deal. When you've got a leak like that, you've got to figure out how to fix the problem. And if there's a big freeze going on, you're not going to be the only one with this problem.

There's going to be a lot of homes around you that have problems like this and there's not enough plumbers to get to all of them. So what I'm going to show you are three steps to fix a leak. That way you can get your water back on. Now, this is not a permanent fix, so please don't think this.

TOOLS REQUIRED:

- `1/2 inch or 3/4 Repair Clamp

- Milwaukee Fuel Impact Wrench

.I remember when we had the big freeze in Dallas, I was getting 50 phone calls an hour. There’s no way I can keep up with that, so it’s good know how to plug a leak - even temporarily.

STEP 1: SHUT THE WATER OFF.

Whether you've got to go out to the meter or if you've got a valve box in your house, shut the water off. You want to stop that water flow as fast as possible, which is the very first thing we did.

STEP 2: CUT A HOLE TO ACCESS THE LEAK

You’ll most likely go through your wall to get to the leak source. And here’s where you take out your clamp and slide it right over the hole or wherever the pipe was leaking. Tighten the bolts, and then there’s one last step.

STEP 3: TIGHTEN THE BOLTS

Take your Milwaukee Impact Wrench, tighten the bolts at the bottom, and make sure the repair clamp is right over the leak.

Now you can turn the water back on, and as you see, no more leak!

You’ll probably have to call the plumber to repair the actual pipe later on. But at least you can bathe and have water running for now.
