How tight is too tight?

Have you ever found yourself staring at your old, outdated toilet, contemplating whether it's time for a replacement? Maybe you've hesitated, fearing you might end up breaking something in the process. Well, that fear was all too real for me, until I embarked on an unusual journey—one that involved testing the resilience of toilets in a way I never imagined. And yes, I did break it.

It all started with a simple question: How much pressure does it take to break a toilet?

As I ventured into the realm of toilet replacement, I encountered a variety of challenges, but none were as daunting as the fear of inadvertently causing damage. Yet, armed with the knowledge I gained from countless hours of research and hands-on experience, I forged ahead, ready to confront the unknown.

Using a specialized torque wrench, I applied incremental pressure to the toilet bolts, meticulously monitoring for signs of stress or, ultimately, failure. It was a delicate dance between precision and restraint, with each click of the wrench marking a crucial moment in the experiment. I had to fight my instinct not to break it, but that was the point of this whole experiment.

By the way you gotta be careful with this stuff, because porcelain is just like glass. It’ll cut right through you.

Eventually, I found the perfect pressure to crack this thing, and well, you’re just going to have to watch the video to see just how much.

It’s pretty common, especially in the beginning to crack toilets because it’s really something you just gotta feel. I suggest doing a similar experiment if you can so that you don’t crack a toilet at a clients’ home.
